Wednesday 24 June 2026 WESSP Athletics Competition On Tuesday, 54 pupils from Key Stage 2 represented St John Fisher at the WESSP Athletics Competition held at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre. Supported by staff and parents, our children competed in a wide range of track and field events, demonstrating determination, resilience and excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school. A special congratulations goes to our Year 6 girls' relay team, who finished as runners-up in a highly competitive final—an outstanding achievement. A sincere thank you to all of the staff and families who supported the children on the day. Your encouragement and commitment helped make the event such a positive experience for everyone involved.

Monday 22 June 2026 St John Fisher Day On Monday, we celebrated St John Fisher Day as a whole school community. Through prayer, reflection, dedicated classroom activities and a few special surprises along the way, we enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating the life and legacy of our school's namesake. St John Fisher was a man of unwavering faith and love of God. His commitment to living out his beliefs continues to inspire us today. As a school, we strive to follow his example by showing kindness, serving others and living out our values of Love of God, Love of Self and Love of Others in all that we do. It was a joyful day and a wonderful opportunity for our children to reflect on what it truly means to be part of the St John Fisher family.

Thursday 11 June 2026 West Essex Swimming Gala A huge well done to our Year 5 and Year 6 children who represented St John Fisher brilliantly at the West Essex Swimming Gala this week. Competing against 11 other schools, they showed fantastic determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout. We are incredibly proud of the way they supported one another and represented our school so positively.

Thursday 26 February 2026 Tottenham Visit St John Fisher This week we were delighted to welcome coaches from the best team in the world - Tottenham Hotspur into school to lead additional PE sessions with our pupils. The children enjoyed being active in the sunshine, developing their skills and working together as a team. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and positive participation. We are grateful for the opportunity and look forward to exploring how we might continue to collaborate in the future.

Friday 6 February 2026 St Carlo Acutis Visit Fr Adrian On Thursday, Year 5 enjoyed an uplifting visit to St. Edmund's. Despite the weather, the warmth of the welcome received from Fr. Adrian quickly brightened everyone's day.

Friday 30 January 2026 Aspirations Week 2026 It has been an amazing and inspirational few days at St. John Fisher. Pupils and teachers have engaged with visitors talking about their careers. We have had firemen, photographers, dentists and many more visit our school.

Wednesday 7 January 2026 Show Racism The Red Card 2026 On Wednesday, our Key Stage 2 classes took part in workshops led by Show Racism the Red Card. The children were fantastic throughout the sessions, demonstrating a strong understanding of the themes discussed and speaking thoughtfully and confidently about the importance of equality, respect and challenging racism.

Friday 21 November 2025 World Youth Day 2025 Children across the school have taken part in a range of wonderful activities to mark World Youth Day, joining millions of young people around the globe in celebrating faith, hope and the positive role of young people in our world.

Friday 14 November 2025 Children In Need 2025 Today, our students came to school ready to take on Challenge 25 in support of the wonderful charity Children in Need. Due to the rain, we adapted the activity, and the children completed four exercises 25 times each—meaning over 27,500 exercises were completed across the school!

Tuesday 11 November 2025 Remembrance Day Today we focused on Remembrance Day. During this month of November, when we remember all souls, we also honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for peace in our world. Alongside our whole-school assembly, the children took part in a range of thoughtful activities, including creating poppies and taking part in class discussions and debates. The children as always impressed us with their respect and faithfulness during these prayerful times. More examples of their work can be found in our school gallery.

Monday 10 November 2025 Drawing Club Success! A huge congratulations to Mrs Merrifield's Drawing Club, who have had their artwork selected as winners in a special competition and will now have their pieces published in a dedicated book. This is fantastic news, and we cannot wait to see the finished product. Well done to everyone involved!

Friday 7 November 2025 Year 6 Boys Football Team A huge congratulations to the boys' football team, who played their first league match of the year this week. They secured an impressive 4–0 win against Hereward School and showed fantastic sportsmanship and teamwork throughout.

Thursday 6 November 2025 NSPCC Focus On Thursday, the whole school took part in a day focused on the amazing work of the NSPCC. The children joined a virtual workshop and then continued their learning in class, taking part in a range of activities exploring the importance of speaking out and staying safe. It was a valuable opportunity for pupils to understand how to protect themselves and others, and to know that there are always trusted adults they can turn to for help.

Thursday 23 October 2025 Mark 10 Mission Visit This week we were very excited to welcome Greg from Mark 10 Missions to our school. He led staff training for teachers on Wednesday evening before leading an assembly and workshops for each year group on Thursday, helping the children understand the importance of prayer and how we can live out the message of the Gospel in our daily lives. Wednesday 15 October 2025 KS1 Phonics Cafe This morning we held our first Café of the year, focusing on phonics. Children came to Cedar Hall with their parents to enjoy a range of activities covering Levels 1 to 5 of our Floppy's Phonics scheme.

Thursday 9 October 2025 Year 2 + 3 Harvest Assembly On Wednesday we came together to celebrate our Harvest Festival, led beautifully by Years 2 and 3. The children did a wonderful job — they weren't at all fazed by the large audience and impressed everyone with their confidence and enthusiasm.

Friday 3 October 2025 National Poetry Day On Thursday, our classes celebrated National Poetry Day. Pupils took part in a range of activities – from producing their own poetry, to learning about key features of different styles, to reciting well-known poems. It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to enjoy and engage with such an important and creative area of English.

Friday 26 September 2025 2Johns Online Safety Today, the 2Johns led virtual workshops across Years 1–6 on the importance of online safety. Each session provided practical advice on how to deal with harmful online content and highlighted the many ways we can stay safe in our digital world.

Tuesday 24 June 2025 Essex District Track Competition Today, St John Fisher sent 45 pupils across Key Stage 2 to compete in the West Essex District Sports Athletics event at Lea Valley Track. Supported by staff from across the school, it was fantastic to see the children's enthusiasm and determination as they took part in sprint, long-distance and relay events. They gave their very best and represented our school with great effort, energy and sportsmanship throughout the day. We now eagerly await the final results from the day.

Monday 23 June 2025 St John Fisher Feast Day Today, we did not hold our usual Gospel assembly but instead came together to celebrate Mass for St John Fisher Day. Led by Year 5 pupils, the children and Father Adrian did a wonderful job reminding us of our school's namesake and how we can each strive to live a little more like John Fisher - making a positive difference in the world through faith, courage and compassion.

Friday 13 June 2025 Year 3 Lego Robotics Workshop On Thursday, our Year 3 students took part in a special Lego Robotics workshop as part of their topic, Magnificent Machines. Using Lego kits and iPads, the children designed, built, and coded their own robots, learning how to make them move and perform specific tasks.

Friday 23 May 2025 International Week 2025 This week, we celebrated the incredible multicultural and multilingual diversity within our school through our international week. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring different cultures, countries, and traditions through a wide range of activities and learning opportunities. We also marked World Day for Cultural Diversity, enjoyed a fantastic turnout for our international breakfast, and ended the week with a wonderful after-school showcase. It was a pleasure to see so many of you join us in celebrating the children’s learning. Thank you to all the parents and families who supported the week, whether through cooking, visiting, or encouraging your child to take part. It is yet another reminder of how powerful our partnership can be in supporting the children’s learning and development.

Wednesday 21 May 2025 Crowning Of Mary On Wednesday, we held a crowning of Mary in the KS2 playground with the whole school. It was a beautiful and reflective service to mark the end of May, the month dedicated to Mary. In keeping with our International Week celebrations, some of our pupils led a decade of the Rosary in different languages, highlighting the cultural richness and unity within our school community. A truly special moment for all involved.

Monday 19 May 2025 Handball Champions Congratulations to the students in Year 5 and 6 who represented the school in the recent handball competition at Debden Park Secondary School. You played brilliantly and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the event. This marks the second year in a row that our Year 5 and 6 team has won the competition, and they are already looking forward to going for a third straight victory next year! Well done to all involved – we are very proud of you.
