Welcome to our school's website

On behalf of all the children, staff and governors I warmly welcome you to the St John Fisher Catholic Primary School website. Here you will find information about our school - a learning community that is guided by our faith, love of God and the Gospel Values.

First and foremost, our school is a faith community and is a place where children will have the opportunity to develop their faith through acts of worship and through the Catholic life of the school. Daily prayer, the celebration of Mass and regular assemblies will help our children to develop a deeper understanding of their faith and the values and attitudes that will guide them throughout their lives.

St. John Fisher is a happy, caring, spiritual, respectful and hardworking environment where, as a Catholic community, we celebrate the successes of our children in all areas of school life through our broad and balanced curriculum. We aim to ensure all children reach their full potential academically. We also recognise the uniqueness of each and every child and strive to provide opportunities for children to fully develop their talents in aspects such as music, sports or the arts. Children should come to discover that it is equally important to be successful as a good friend and a faithful member of both our community and the world beyond.

The most recent OFSTED inspection (September 2018) graded St. John Fisher as a “Good” school overall and in each of five key categories of assessment;
* Effectiveness of leadership and management
* Quality of teaching, learning and assessment
* Personal development, behaviour and welfare
* Outcomes for pupils
* Early years provision

A link to the full OFSTED report can be found on our school website under Statutory Info – Inspection Reports.

The report highlights the many strengths that were found within our school and praised the hard work and dedication of all of the staff and governors, who focused on improving the quality of teaching and learning to raise pupils’ achievement. Our school was delighted that many of our pupils were able to share their personal views of the school, as were so many parents. This enabled inspectors to positively reflect on how the school ensures our children achieve well and enjoy their time with us in a safe and secure environment. We now look forward to continuing the journey and building upon this success.

I am delighted to have been appointed Headteacher of this wonderful school and look forward to working in partnership with you over the years to come. The primary years are very special ones, where life-long learning and friendships will be formed. Together, we need to work hard to ensure that all the pupils at St John Fisher get the very best that we can offer them during their time at our school.
