What are Rec / Year 1 learning?

Lately in R1D, we have had great fun learning about animals and castles. The Reception children really enjoyed writing about ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ whilst the Year 1s loved writing instructions on how to build a castle!

In Maths, the children have been learning how to measure, height, length, weight volume and capacity. They have had great fun exploring how to use both formal and informal units of measurement. The children particularly enjoyed measuring each other with cubes!

In D&T, the pupils worked in groups to build their very own castles!

Looking at the term ahead...

After Easter, the Reception children will be learning all about Superheroes! They will be writing and learning about well-known superheroes as well as real-life superheroes like paramedics and carers. Year 1 are looking forward to their new topic – ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. They will be learning and writing about all of the fantastic creatures that live on our wonderful planet.

In Maths, we will be learning to count in multiples of 2,5 and 10. We will also be learning about fractions, time, place value and directions!

The Summer term is going to be awesome!
