Reception

There are 2 Reception classrooms at St John Fisher which open onto a newly refurbished outdoor learning environment. We were very lucky to have received the funding for the area in 2019 and it’s grand opening was held in January 2020; it is a proud accomplishment for the whole school. The children free flow between their classrooms and the outdoor learning area, where there are opportunities to be further develop their learning.

RA Class Teachers: Mrs Merrifield and Mrs Laysell

Expectations

Starting school is a huge step for young children and it can be quite difficult for some.

Our expectations by the end of the year are first and foremost that your children are happy and settled in school. We would expect them to have grown in independence and confidence as well as being more social and happy to express themselves. These skills are vital in helping your children to achieve the Early Learning Goals.

There are 17 areas of learning within the Early Years curriculum and these can be seen in detail via the government website.
