Prayer and liturgy at St John fisher Catholic Primary school click below

Our Prayers per year group.  Please do read with your child/children.

Prayer and Liturgy in Our School a Summary.

Children across our school engage in Prayer and liturgy, they develop their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Faith and in how they live out their Christian faith. It is wonderful to see in our school the early development of children taking ownership of Collective Worship.  Children across the school write their own prayers and within the Come and See Programme are encouraged to learn about leading prayer and worship.

Children are encouraged to participate actively in House and Class Assemblies and children read at whole school liturgies, Masses, Carol Services.

Collective worship forma a central part of the Catholic life of the school.   There are differing acts of worship each day which aim to meet the varying needs of the children within the school.

  • Monday – Gospel Assembly
  • Tuesday – Singing Assembly
  • Wednesday – Class worship planned and delivered by the children
  • Thursday –Class Worship led by Avilas or Class led assembly
  • Friday – Golden Assembly

Children participate in termly whole school Masses and Holy Days of Obligation. During Advent and Lent there are Penitential Services for children who have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. During Lent there is a weekly Station of the Cross lead by staff/parents/y6 who write their own reflections and prayers. Throughout October and May there is the ‘Daily Decade’ of the Rosary. House Saints Days and St John Fisher Day are celebrated.
