Following are two document which show how we celebrate our saints and how we pray the rosary.

Catholic life - Our Summary

Children in our school engage in collective worship, by developing their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Faith and in how they live out their Christian faith. Each class celebrates an act of worship (on a weekly basis).

Every class has an assembly. They are led by the children and always include a prayer or an act of worship. The children are always enthusiastic and engaged and are keen to share their growing faith with others.

Year 6's including House Captains and RE Ambassadors take on roles of responsibility that enhance the care for one another within the community

St John Fisher’s school has a very strong sense of family – all the children are part of vertically grouped houses, with a patron saint for each of the  houses. Each house celebrates it’s feast day by raising money for  their own chosen charity and has included global chairites like CAFOD, national charities like McMillan, dioceean charities like BCCS and local charities like Food Bank.

Different year groups lead different celebrations through the School Year: for example:

EYFS Nativity story, KS1 nativity, KS2 Carol Concert, Year 6 Stations of the Cross and Remembrance,

St John Fisher has a very diverse pupil base, with children coming from a wide range of backgrounds and ethnic groups.  This diversity enables the children to grow and develop in an environment of mutual respect care and love for one another.

The school mission statement reflects the mission of the church, staff are committed to its implementation across the whole school and they participate in school activities which reflect the Catholic Life of the school such as staff prayer and CPD. “At St John Fisher Catholic School, the love of God helps us all to live, learn and grow to be a happy, caring and welcoming community.” The mission statement is central to all that we do within the school and its efficacy of the is borne out on a daily basis through our culture of learning and our respect for one another and the uniqueness and dignity of each individual.

There is a wonderful sense of community at all levels and prayer in central to the whole community. There are obvious signs of the school’s Catholic character. Each class has its own dedicated RE display featuring key words and questions. This is changed termly to reflect the topics covered and is a focal point for prayer. Staff promote high standards of behaviour and are good role models of mutual respect for pupils.

Our Catholic Identity is also lived out through a range of other ways;

  • Whole School Liturgies
  • Class Liturgies
  • Assemblies
  • Prayer (Rosary, Stations of the Cross)
  • Class Prayer Services
  • Whole school and class masses

We come together with the wider Church community to celebrate key liturgical events.  Parishioners are welcome to all key celebrations of our faith.  (Carol Services, Whole School Masses, Feast Day celebrations)

The wellbeing of the children and staff at St John Fisher is of paramount importance.  Children and staff are made aware of how to keep safe, that they are loved and that they are unique in the eyes of God on a regular basis.  This is carried out through assemblies, the school curriculum, staff meetings and by all living out the school’s mission.  The School also employs a counsellor, who works in the school on a weekly basis to help children through a range of issues. The school has recently been awared the Young Carers Award.

The school promotes high standards of behaviour through setting the good role models that all staff members exhibit and by living out the Gospel values. High expectations of children’s behaviour are also set by all members of staff.   As a result, pupils are very well behaved across the school.  Children are polite and considerate towards each other and to adults alike.  Children are also very caring; this is displayed in how they act towards each other but also in their expression of faith to the wider community.  Children demonstrate the care for the wider community in a range of ways.  (Through charitable fundraising)

The School’s mission reflect the Gospel and are encouraged and lived each day
